Well, my application passed, ideas have bounced round my head and characters have been posted up. And therein lies a problem.

I've had an idea for a character, and his companion, but my main concern is that, while I've gotten quite keen on them, they might be a bit Steampunk for Abydos. The basic idea is that the character has, over time in order to ward off his eventual death, replaced various parts of his body with mechanical clockwork parts (he comes from a long line of master clockmakers). However, to avoid things being too steampunkish, the gears are turned either by magic or by the beating of his heart.

And so the question is this-would he fit, or is advanced clockwork to such an extent not really fitting for Abydos? Thank ye muchlike for any answers, affirmative or, er defirmative.

...they might be a bit Steampunk..

Marry me.

*Ahem* that aside. I've actually thought about incorperating a bit of Steampunk myself. I was thinking maybe there could be a city or continent, basically a certain area of the world, that's more advanced than the rest. Maybe it could be a place where magic doesn't work so, with that out of the way, people would focus more in their technology.

Technology isn't balanced in the real world either, so how 'bout it?

That's all the excuse I need!

And perhaps when we know each other a little better, huh? I'd prefer not to throw myself into things. tongue.gif

Steampunk really isn't my thing (Lol 'flex) but I think that this is fine if it inspires you happy.gif Obviously just keep it magic/alchemal/clockwork-y instead of sci-fi and it'll be cool.

Steampunk eh? I'd love to do something of that variety! Since timelines aren't a big deal we pretty much have free license. Lemme know when you get those characters up.

There's an inactive-but-open sci-fi board where you guys are welcome to drag this stuff and kick it up a notch if you don't mind that there are few people around to RP with happy.gif

(Clicky on Caelum link in sidebar)

Oooh, goody! Since its so inactive, will posting an application be really necessary? Beyond that, anyone have any plots floating around? All I've got is ideas for an impoverished rogue-ish character, maybe with a bit of diviner in him for kicks.

Well, if you've got a character, and I've got a character (many in fact, you may take your pick) then I suppose a story would be bound to spring up should we put them together. lol Unless this is in reference to the steampunkness, in which case... You would be introducing me to a new genre... Which I would be happy enough to try.

EDIT: ^ this is for anyone who might be interested, really. biggrin.gif

Well, he's only a steampunk style character, I don't intend to be shoving a steampunk area into a world where it wouldn't really belong, so I guess most of our characters should work together, Nemairsaire (unless you have one who hates any kind of machinery or metal, or is magnetic).

Well, Ker probably doesn't like steel or iron... Or any metal with some iron in it... But apart from that, he'd probably be a curiousity. Benja, I mean. wink.gif

I would like to get either Tarlien or Ker up on the playing board so to speak, and Ker would probably do best with your characters, though Tarlien might, eventually, feel like helping Tannas out. Particularly if the fellow played something for him. Because Tarlien really, really likes music...

Role Players on Abydos only have to send me a PM on Caelum in order to be "accepted" on that forum happy.gif
