A character question

Well, my application passed, ideas have bounced round my head and characters have been posted up. And therein lies a problem.
I've had an idea for a character, and his companion, but my main concern is that, while I've gotten quite keen on them, they might be a bit Steampunk for Abydos. The basic idea is that the character has, over time in order to ward off his eventual death, replaced various parts of his body with mechanical clockwork parts (he comes from a long line of master clockmakers). However, to avoid things being too steampunkish, the gears are turned either by magic or by the beating of his heart.
And so the question is this-would he fit, or is advanced clockwork to such an extent not really fitting for Abydos? Thank ye muchlike for any answers, affirmative or, er defirmative.

That's all the excuse I need! And perhaps when we know each other a little better, huh? I'd prefer not to throw myself into things.

Steampunk eh? I'd love to do something of that variety! Since timelines aren't a big deal we pretty much have free license. Lemme know when you get those characters up.

Oooh, goody! Since its so inactive, will posting an application be really necessary? Beyond that, anyone have any plots floating around? All I've got is ideas for an impoverished rogue-ish character, maybe with a bit of diviner in him for kicks.

Well, he's only a steampunk style character, I don't intend to be shoving a steampunk area into a world where it wouldn't really belong, so I guess most of our characters should work together, Nemairsaire (unless you have one who hates any kind of machinery or metal, or is magnetic).
