What was there? In Elumintir I mean. I was thinking about doing a board-wide RP set in the history of Elumintir. A grand, epically-scaled adventure. Just wondering is there a set history of deities as such or just up to our imagination?

Same here! I have plenty of gods and a whole charachter dealing with the beginning of Elumintir. (Rather indirectly. ) Infact, I think most of us have something on the beginning of Elumintir... I know AoC has the star children. *tries to think of anything else I've read*

Edit: Hesters Question has brought up some interesting stuff.

I proprose that we go through our character threads and post here a list of all the gods each of us have. Then we can work out a heirarchy and general relationship between them all. (Sort of like our own ancient mythology!)

Here is my list and everything I have compiled on each one.


Angelique: [goddess of Justice]
Relationships: Rival to Shrake. Good friends with Genesis, Enaiutos and Selmar. Sister to Destiny.

Authority: Holds sway over the punishments inflicted upon man. A point of controversy among the gods as her job indirectly interferes with that of almost everyone else. Shrake particularly, has a sore point with her.

Personality: Complex. Unwaveringly certain of the righteousness of her cause, while tempering her certainty with occasional mercy. Does her best to be impartial and fair. (not equal). Tries to make the punishment fit the crime. Known to have a slow but painful temper. Beware her bad side.

Magic Items: Her staff, Iliminatii. Created from her tears. Contains her powers and thus her Authority. Resides in her temple.

Appearance: A young lady of extravagant beauty . Slender in build. Loosely braided golden hair hangs to her waist. From here the braid is tied off, and the hair allowed to cascade freely for a good half-foot more of length. Her dress is daiphonous, but not revealing; being made of several layers of thick sturdy, white fabric, over which a thin silken layer is draped. A vision of loveliness.

Destiny: [goddess of fate]

Relationships: Wife of Enaiutos. Loyal to him. Gets along best with Selmar, and possibly Shrake. Mother of Runas and Sol. Sister to Angelique.

Authority: The bend and turn of the human will. Governs the laws of human interactions. Tries to keep the mortals in line with the will of the gods.

Personality: Sociable. Conscientious. Often highly stressed, trying to meet the demands of all the gods. A point of controversy, as she doesn't agree with all of them. Does not delight in overt manipulation. Does what she must, but generally not more. Tries to please everyone.

Magical Items: The Chessboard of fate. A board containing a complex series of lines and squares. Each piece is directly linked with the soul of a person. When aperson dies his peices is gone. Peices waiting to be given life rest off to the side. No two pieces are alike. Complex rules govern this one-woman game.

Appearance: A brunette with short straight hair. Wears a simple purple gown. Gold earrings hang in her ears, and a yellow cloth is tied about her waist. Slender, and small in build. Peircing black eyes. Olive skin. (Like the italians).

Enaiutos: [god of time and space]

Relationships: Husband of Dez. Protects her from the wrath of the other gods. Father of Runas and Sol.

Authority: Past, Present and Future. Controls the flow and change of time. Is the source of existence for all things physical, directly controls the existence of planes. Can create new worlds for other gods to people. Manipulates space. Can create and manipulate matter. Can nullify existence by wiping someone out of history. While the person is not dead, they do cease to exist in the conventional sense. Can thwart death by blending someone with the flow of time, thus granting immortality. Cannot restore time, once it has been erased. Can force existence to a non-manual plane.

Personality: Easy going. Morally upright. Values life and honors righteousness. Quiet, a man of few words. Clever. Wise. Contemplative.

Magical Items: The Anachron. A large gem bestowed upon a certain warrior in ages past. Now embodied in the person of Elena Montecour. Contains a portion of his power and will.

Appearance: Broad, tall, well muscled. A head of thick brown, wavy hair and eyes of purest blue. Deep baritone voice, very pleasant to hear. Wears a white tunic, with brown vambraces. Clean shaven.

Maelstrom: [goddess of weather]

Relationships: Enemy or friend as it suits her. Married to Mirth, bit not faithful to him. Has strong feelings for Aylen. (Will also flirt with anything that moves.) Fears Shrake.

Authority: Controls weather.

Personality: Fickle, base. Amoral and immoral. Extremely selfish and self-serving. Cunning, devious, narcissitic. Petty. A constant annoyance to everyone. Stirs up a lot of trouble. Hated by all, trusted by few. Hangs out with the bad gods.

Magical Items: None

Appearance: Very well endowed in figure. Fair skinned. Blonde curls pinned up in a bun by combs of gold. A diamond headband adorns her head. Elegant blue eyes. Wears much make-up. Dresses as revealingly as possible. Thin diaphonous gowns, and tiny 'dresses'. Pleasant, sensuous voice.

Genesis: [god of life]

Relationships: Rival brother to Shrake. Dislikes him because he is shiftless, irresponsible and amoral. Supports him when he can. Does not dislike death by virtue of itself. Gets along well with the good gods.

Authority: The sustainer and giver of life. He does not create, but he allows creations to live.

Personality: Warm, caring. Tender. A strong conviction on the side of right. Unwavering in his morals.

Magical Items: None

Appearance: Tall and broad. Fair skinned. Wears a white tunic with a silver waistband, and vambraces. Short blonde hair, and laughing grey eyes.

Mirth: [god of joy and partying]

Relationships: A point of controversy. He rubs some gods the wrong way. Married to Mael. Dislikes his wife. Finds her a constant embarrassment and reproach to his good name. Not faithful to her. Really hates Aylen.

Authority: Laughter, happiness and good fun.

Personality: Irresponsible, carefree, cavalier. Lives for fun.

Magical Items: none

Appearance: Fat. His food baby sags down over his brown waist band. He has six chins, and waddles when he walks. Always smiling and jovial. Wears a green tunic. Has lots of thick, brown wavey hair which encircles his head like a halo. Falls to just below his ears.

Selmar/Sol: [god of light]

Relationships: Married to Luna. She is his hearts delight. Son of Enaiutos and Destiny.

Authority: Over the sun, light. Controls the passing of each day.

Personality: Strong moral convictions. Contemplative. Warm personality. (will adjust later.)

Magical Items: None

Appearance: Usually a ball of blinding light which hangs in the sky. In human form he is skinny and short, with shaggy blonde hair and eyes of fire. Wears a white tunic with a gold waistband.

Nereid: [goddess of water]

Relationships: ? Has an affinity for goodness.

Authority: Over all bodies of water. Ocean creatures. Overseer of this world's Leviathan.

Personality: Calm, very hard to rile. Willing to go along to get along. Enjoys beauty. Semi-swift temper. Light-hearted.

Magical Items: A hair comb made of coral and set with pearls. Contains the power of hypnosis. Allows mortals to breathe under water and speak with fish.

A silver necklace in the shape of a ferocious looking elongated fish eating it's own tail. Direct link to the leviathan.

Appearance: Pale skinned with an oval face. Long black hair that hangs to her waist. Various sea flowers and creatures decorate her hair; a small part of which is held up in a bun on the back of her head by her comb. Wears a thick, long, flowing ornate blue-green dress. The dress shifts with the colors of the sea. Blue-green eyes. Tall and slender.

Luna: [goddess of the moon]

Relationships: Married to Sol. Older sister to Lacchi. Eldest Daughter of Runas. Highly doting to Lacchi. Loves him very much and supports him when she can. Not afraid to tell him when she thinks he wrong. Very loyal to Sol. He takes precedence over Lacchi, though not by much. Often torn between the desires of the two.

Authority: Over the moon and gravity.

Personality: Serious, contemplative. Mysterious. Doesn't associate much with the other gods and goddesses.
Magical Items: The Silver Loom. Used for weaving the moon anew. It's music is said to be the sound of the night. Can be used to enchant. If shattered the moon will be no more.

Appearance: Pale as the moon with long hair as dark as night. Grey eyes. Long flowing silver dress. Silver bangles on her right wrist. Her hair hangs in two long braids; each behind an ear.

Possible Homeworld

Currently these gods live Tiryn, a place in the sky. Tiryn is Grecian in sculpture, with as many rooms and places decorated as anyone sees fit. We can rename the place or add another or come up with something entirely new.

Also: Each god has but one temple, and that temple is in the country which has him as it's cheif diety.

Lacchi: [Trickster God]

Relationships: Son of the Night Goddess. Luna's brother. Shrake terrifies him.

Authority: He's appointed himself the god of thieves and street urchins. And is also something of a messenger god.

Personality: Laid-back and somewhat cowardly, he'll do what needs doing, though he'd rather not risk his own hide to do it. He is very sympathetic towards mortals and doesn't know the gods that well since he's kind of just beginning to remember that he is one himself.

Appearance: A large lurcher, he has black and white fur, black boots on all four paws and a black patch over his left eye. In human form, he is short and stocky, with curly brown hair and the same dog-brown eyes. As a god, he'd look much the same, but will be able to shapeshift into a crow as well once he remembers that particular magic.

Shrake: [Death]

Relationships: Anyone and everyone is bothersome when they come visit, but some are worse than others.

Authority: He is Death and the Keeper of the Gates into the Otherworld. Once a spirit walks the path through the last Gate they may not return, but he can also close that Gate so that those who have done serious wrong, or irritated him a little too drastically, are stuck wandering in eternal darkness with their guilt, fears and memories.

Personality: Don't bother him and he won't bother you, until you die. Respect him and he'll respect you. Not that many do, he has a rather cynical worldview and doesn't take kindly to being told that just because he is the avatar of death that he doesn't care about the living. After all, what would death be if there was no life?

Magical Items: Theron Fain. A little boy who's completely loyal to Shrake and Shrake alone. He is his medium with the rest of the world, and has a good bit of power in his own right, even if he still doesn't know how to use it properly.

Aylen: [Earth Giver]

Relationships: He doesn't know the other gods well, but would treat with any and all as equals and dislike those who treat him as less.

Authority: He is a minor Earth God of an extinct people, and so has little enough authority, but once he gets his body back, he'd be quite powerful.

Personality: Friendly and curious. He is an old man with an endless patience and an endless store of knowledge, not always useful knowledge, but knowledge all the same.

Background story: Aylen was a strong earth elemental at one point, some thousands of years ago. And at one point in the history of Elumintir, there was a race of people (no name for them at the moment) who needed a new home. (Either because they were exiled, chased out, something had happened to where they were living or what have you) Because they'd treated well with Aylen, and they were so heartfelt in their pleas to the gods and anyone who would listen for help, he came to their aide. He called to the earth for them, and brought up a bridge so that they might cross the seas away from their old home, and when they were far enough away to be safe, he collapsed from the exhaustion. His body, made of stone and earth and precious magic, fell into the sea and grew large enough for these people to inhabit. As the last one stepped onto his back, the land bridge he'd created fell away, beneath the waters. But the land he became for them was rich and fertile, and because they had brought everything they could with them, as he had told them to, they could begin anew upon it. He was glad to see what he had done for them, but he was very weakened by it and because they now lived upon his floating body, he did not dare take it back. So he was little more than a consciousness for a short while, until they built a small statue of him, to thank him for what he had done. Then, because they worshiped the statue and had built it in his image, he became caught in it. And for several hundred years so he remained. Answering his people's cries when they begged him for help, and watching over them through the minds of those who tied themselves to him. But over time, their thanks and pleas grew fainter, and fewer and fewer men and women came to him. He does not know the cause, but eventually, they came no more and he was left alone, trapped in an image of himself. So he drifted through time at that point, until something dragged him awake once more. But when he came to, it was to discover that he'd fashioned for himself the illusion of a body, much like the one he'd once held when he went among the humans. And now, he is wandering about wondering what happened and trying to discover a way to find his body, floating somewhere in the oceans where he cannot feel it, for it is not connected to any other bit of earth.
